An ordinary way to get to the plateau Manpupuner , Northern Ural

The most comfortable ground way to reach 7 Stone Idols is a combination of water trip by motorboat from the mouth of the Ilych river to Ust - Lyaga cordon of the Pechora - Ilych Reserve ( about 200 km ) and subsequent 36 km hike along the former Sibiryakovsky road to the Manpupuner plateau.

Map of Pechora - Ilych area

Sibiryakovsky road is abondon earth road laid from Siberia to Pechora river basin  by efforts and financial support of a trademan Sibiryakov  in the seventies of 19th century and designated for transportation of Sibirian wheat and other goods to Europen part of Russia and export abroad.
Due to intensive rail road - building in the beginning of 20th century Sibiryakovsky roads across
Ural mountains quickly lost their economic significance.
To start this kind of trip one has to arrive to Ust -  Ilych village   from Ukhta  if you travel on  individual  basis.  We had a very successful  trip following this way on August 2015 that took us just one week thanks to our Ust - Ilych host and skilled boatman . It was a real pleasure to visit those sacred places on the plateau  - places of  Magic power .    Regrettably , this one of the most available route was closed since 2018 due to  environmental protection measures.
